When motherhood doesn't feel the
way you thought
it would.
Motherhood can bring love, meaning and tenderness. It can also bring resentment, loneliness, guilt, relationship strain and a quiet sense that you no longer recognise yourself.
Dr Romila Ragaven offers specialist psychological support for women navigating the identity and relationship changes that follow having a baby. Because you can't heal what you don't understand.
Maybe you've been thinking...

I don't
recognise
myself
anymore.

I resent
my partner more than
I ever imagined.

We argue all the time about the same things.

I feel so disconnected and alone.

I miss who I used to be.
You're not alone - and you're not failing. There are reasons this happens.

Relationship Changes After Baby
Therapy to help you navigate resentment, emotional distance, communication difficulties and the feeling that you are no longer on the same team.
HOW I CAN HELP

Motherhood & Mental Health
Support for anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, guilt, perfectionism, identity changes and feeling lost or unlike yourself.

What Is Matrescence?
Understand the profound emotional, psychological and identity changes that occur when we become mothers.

Welcome - I'm Romila
I'm a Clinical Psychologist specialising in the psychology of becoming a mother — postpartum relationship change, perinatal mental health and matrescence.
I help women understand what's happening to them after birth: the resentment they didn't expect, the distance that's crept into their relationship, the quiet grief for who they used to be. Not because something has gone wrong, but because motherhood is one of the most significant psychological transitions a person can go through — and almost no one prepares you for it.
My work brings together attachment-informed therapy and psychoeducation on matrescence, helping clients make sense of their experience before we work on changing it.
THE MOTHERHOOD NOTES
Thoughtful reflections on postpartum relationships, matrescence and the psychology of becoming a mother.
No algorithms. No overwhelm. Just meaningful insights
